As we approach the end of another amazing year for OHE, I’d like to highlight some significant recent achievements.

First, we published "A Framework for Value-aligned Pricing of Combination Therapies", which explores the complexities of pricing models for combination therapies and emphasises the need for innovative strategies to ensure patient access and affordability.

Additionally, our analysis in The Cost-Effectiveness of Gene Therapies for Inherited Eye Diseases questions whether current discounting approaches are too short-sighted and discusses the importance of long-term value assessment in healthcare.

In the media, OHE co-authored a piece in Euractiv discussing broader implications of our work and its impact on policy and practice. The piece calls for policymakers to refine national methodologies to fully capture the value of the long-term benefits of healthcare innovations.

Our calendar for 2025, is filling up with activities, including the Award ceremony for the Innovation Policy Prize. This event will celebrate the groundbreaking contributions of the joint winners of the prize for their proposals to foster environmentally sustainable innovation in the life sciences sector.

We will also host the Insights and Reflections from 2024 webinar, where we will share OHE developments during 2024 and future directions.

We are excited to announce yet another round of the OHE MSc Fellowships at City St George’s, University of London, and of the OHE PhD fellowship at LSE Health Policy. And, on another note, we are hiring an External Engagement Officer position to contribute to our mission while growing professionally.

Finally, we are delighted to announce that we will be launching a new vibrant OHE branding in February 2025. Watch this space for more exciting updates.

Here's to another year of innovation and progress!

A Framework for Value-aligned Pricing of Combination Therapies

Combination therapies offer significant potential for improving patient outcomes, but access is restricted by the lack of suitable pricing models in Europe. Cost-effectiveness Analysis of Gene Therapies for Inherited Eye Disease: Are Current Discounting Approaches Too Short-sighted?

Gene therapies, such as potential treatments for X-Linked Retinitis Pigmentosa, present unique challenges for health technology assessment, especially in discounting practices.
