Health economics is increasingly capturing the public's attention, making its way into mainstream media as its value in addressing critical global issues becomes more recognised.
Despite sometimes being overlooked, health economics plays a pivotal role in shaping policies and informing public debate on pressing challenges, from vaccines to veganism. Most recently we’ve seen OHE’s work on The Socio-Economic Value of Adult Immunisation Programmes featured in The Telegraph and New Scientist, and our work on The Socioeconomic Burden of Cervical Cancer spotlighted in the Sun and Daily Mail.
Featuring evidence-based research and recommendations like this in mass media is highlighting the impact that effective healthcare interventions can have, not just on individual health, but on economies and societies at large.
OHE has been at the forefront of this movement, with its insights increasingly featured in prominent forums, from the World Health Assembly to the Global Sustainable Development Congress and the Economist. Our latest insight piece for the World Economic Forum spotlighted how health economics is redefining climate-resilient healthcare, underscoring the urgency of integrating economic considerations into health and climate policies.
This aligns with OHE’s latest global programme, the Change Initiative, which is bridging the gap between health economics and global challenges, driving innovative solutions that are both sustainable and impactful through cross-cutting collaborations between the pharmaceutical industry, government and civil society.
As health economics continues to gain public recognition, its role in shaping a healthier, more sustainable future is clearer than ever. With evidence-based insights leading the way, we are able to form solutions that not only improve individual well-being but also strengthen societies worldwide.

How health economics is redefining climate-resilient healthcare
In this insight piece by the World Economic Forum, we explore how health economics can identify green solutions for the healthcare sector. OHE, in partnership with global organizations, is addressing the sector's environmental impact while ensuring quality care through sustainable practices.
OHE's new Change Initiative, a not-for-profit research fund, addresses critical health challenges like climate change and prevention by bridging gaps between stakeholders. By prioritising global partnerships, equity, and environmental sustainability, the Initiative aims to create a more inclusive and sustainable healthcare future. Together, we can tackle these complex issues and drive meaningful change.
